FAQs on how to save by switching energy for business with energyhelpline Business

Why switch business energy supplier?

Cost is by far the most obvious reason to switch supplier. There are still a huge percentage of businesses which think business energy is completely different to domestic energy, and therefore believe they don’t have much choice in their energy supplier.  But business energy suppliers are growing fast, and many domestic energy suppliers now offer commercial options. The energyhelpline business team compare these suppliers for you to help you save up to 70% on your bills.

When can I switch business energy supplier?

Commercial energy supplies are normally under a contract, which will automatically renew once the contract ends. If you want to change supplier, you need to give your current supplier a minimum of four weeks’ notice. If you don’t do this you could be automatically placed on deemed rates, or standard rates, which will be extremely high. However, if you are new to the premises then you won’t be placed straight into a contract, meaning you can find a new contarct when you want. Again, its best to do this ASAP as most suppliers charge high rates when you are out of contract. If you are not sure of the status of your business energy contract you can contact our team who can give you all the information you need on 0800 008 77 72. For more details see the ‘What do I need to do to change supplier?’ section below.

How much does it cost to switch business energy supplier?

Our service is provided completely free of charge to clients. For each contract that we arrange with business energy suppliers, we earn a fee from the selected supplier. What’s more, because we work with a range of suppliers, we often have access to better rates than those avaliable by going direct as they know they need to compete to gain your business.

How do I know that this is the best deal for me?

We work with the major commercial energy suppliers, meaning that in some cases the rates we have specially negotiated with suppliers are exclusive to our company – often up to 10% cheaper than what suppliers offer direct.

What do I need to do to change supplier?

After you’ve spoken to us, the only thing you need to do is give termination notice to your current business energy supplier in writing. We’ve even created templates of the letters and our energy advisor will still assist you in the process. Giving sufficient termination notice will allow you to leave your contract. Then all you need to do is sign the contract with your new supplier, and we will do the rest.
