Rollover trap refers to the standard tariff or higher rates applicable in case you fail to compare Gas and Electricity prices and switch over to a new contract in time. The suppliers just move you over to a standard tariff
It is also possible that you would be on this standard tariff in case you have just moved into new premises. After the old business has moved out, the contracted rates are not applicable and after a new business locates to these premises, the business would be switched to a standard tariff, in the absence of the contracted tariff. It is imperative that you compare gas and electricity prices and switch over to a new tariff immediately to avoid paying higher rates.
Additionally most businesses are unaware that every energy supplier has a notice period that needs to be provided to switch to a new contract. This notice period clause would be there in the ‘terms and conditions’ for a business energy gas and electricity contract.
If you do not switch within this notice period which ranges from 90-120 days, you would be moved to a standard tariff which could be as high as 140-150% of the likely tariff that you could avail through Energyhelpline.
You need to switch within the window of opportunity that is available for a Switch when the contract starts drawing to a close. This is where energyhelpline comes in. We compare gas and electricity prices with majority of the suppliers and help you to switch in time.
